DREAMING OUT LOUD THE RADIATORS RADZ - 2006 A Review By Paule Pachter, December 25 , 2006
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, amidst all of the destroyed homes, businesses, and uprooted lives, the music of New Orleans continues to rise to the surface like a fish or in this case, a fish head up from the water. The Radiators are back and they’re carrying the dreams of the rest of the Crescent City with them on their brand new CD, “Dreaming Out Loud.” This self-produced studio recording completely produced in New Orleans during the 2006 Mardi Gras celebration following Katrina is both a celebration of the rebuilding of the New Orleans music industry and a call to arms for those who love the music of the Crescent City to come back, to record, to listen and to help rebuild. With “Dreaming Out Loud” The Radiators have become the musical ambassadors of New Orleans and the CD just might symbolize a turning point for the music industry and its artists in New Orleans that in the wake of Katrina the music of New Orleans is coming back and perhaps better than ever.
Among the standout compositions featured in addition to the title track are: “Rub It In;” “Lost Radio;” “7 Devils;” “The Death of the Blues;” and “Shine Tonight.” These tracks exemplify the feel good, eclectic sound of fish head music that only The Radiators can deliver. Listen carefully to the music and you can hear the influences of artists such as Wilson Pickett on “The Man Who Lost His Head” or C.J. Chenier on the title track. The Radiators are: Ed Volker (keyboards, vocals); Dave Malone (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, baritone guitar, TEO mando, banjo and e-bow); Camile Baudoin (guitar); Frank Bua, Jr. (drums); and Reggie Scanlan (bass). “Dreaming Out Loud” earns a four-pepper rating and can be purchased directly from the artist’s website at www.theradiators.org or Amazon.
We greatly appreciate your support and encouragement of The Zydeco Road. Working together, we can enhance the recognition that Zydeco music and its artists so greatly deserve on Long Island and within the Metro New York area.[ Artist of the Month ] [Sounds of The Road ] [This Ain't No Rest Stop ]
