Liftoff Planet Zydeco Independent - 2004 A Review By Paule Pachter, August 13 , 2006
You can add Planet Zydeco to the short list of northeast regional bands that interpret the Louisiana musical genre true to form. The sextet that hails from Vermont, western Massachusetts and New Hampshire deliver a smooth style, pleasing vocals, tight harmonies, and impressive musicianship. Planet Zydeco has put together a collection of 13 songs by such Louisiana influences as Keith Frank, Chris Ardoin, John Delafose, Willis Prudhomme, Stanley Dural, Jr. and others, and they deliver them all exceptionally well. Their sound is authentic, yet very contemporary. Their music can be easily danced to, or you can just kick back and enjoy listening to a group of regional Zydeco artists that know what they’re doing.
Among their best interpretations are: Sean Ardoin’s “Black Cadillac;” Chris Ardoin’s “Texas Two Step;” Willis Prudhomme’s “I’ve Been Told What You Don’t Know;” and Dewey Balfa’s “Down in Texas Way.” The talented members of Planet Zydeco include Peter Consula (vocals, bass), Nick Keil (vocals, guitar), Paul McTaggart (drums), Peter Pettengill (vocals, guitar), Rose Sinclair (accordion), and Suzanne Wozniak (rubboard).

We greatly appreciate your support and encouragement of The Zydeco Road. Working together, we can enhance the recognition that Zydeco music and its artists so greatly deserve on Long Island and within the Metro New York area.[ Artist of the Month ] [Sounds of The Road ] [This Ain't No Rest Stop ]
