Voyage d'Amore
  Swamp
  Bayou Records - 2006
A Review By Paule Pachter, October 26, 2006

You might not readily associate Amsterdam and Groningen in the Netherlands as a source of great Zydeco, Cajun or Tex-Mex music. But don’t tell that to Marius Bos and the other four members of the Netherland’s-based band, Swamp. Bos is an accomplished accordion player and his passion and that of Swamp’s for the music comes through loud, clear and exceptionally well delivered on their latest CD, “Voyage d’Amore.”

Whether they’re singing in English, French or Spanish, Swamp has got the rhythm and the chords all down to a complete science. They deliver 13 pleasing tracks in authoritative style, including enjoyable renditions of such classics as: “Tit Galoppe Pou Mamou;” “Bosco Stomp;” “Bon Ton Roulet;” and “Paper In My Shoe.” The band does justice to the songs of Boozoo Chavis, Balfa Toujours, Iry Lejuene and others on this CD, aptly titled “Voyage of Love.” Although Cajun and Zydeco music are prominently featured, the band delivers exceptional Tex-Mex material in tracks like “Puenta Pesoa” and Morenita Mia. The talented members of Swamp include Marius Bos (accordion), Tjitte Knol (lead vocals, slide guitar), Jeroen Bos (electric and acoustic guitars), Andre’ van der Werf (bass), and Bob Philipse (drums and percussion).

“Voyage d’Amore” earns a well-deserved four peppers and is worth your logging onto the band’s official website at: www.swamp.nl to purchase a copy.

We greatly appreciate your support and encouragement of The Zydeco Road. Working together, we can enhance the recognition that Zydeco music and its artists so greatly deserve on Long Island and within the Metro New York area.
